“Management of Livestock and Poultry Genetic Resources, within the Scope of Climate Change” Training Workshop

The Animal Production Research Institute (APRI), is pleased to announce the “Management of Livestock and Poultry Genetic Resources, within the Scope of Climate Change” Training Workshop
The training workshop is organized within the Task 7.5 of the EU-funded “Innovative management of Animal Genetic Resources (IMAGE) project” that aims to enhance the use of genetic collections and to upgrade animal gene bank management, developing genomic methodologies, biotechnologies, and bioinformatics for a better knowledge and exploitation of AnGR.
Objectives of the training workshop is to support the capacity of Egyptian AnGR stakeholders in:
- Analysis of Policy(ies) and Legislation(s) dealing with management of AnGR.
- Inventory and characterization (phenotypic and molecular) approaches including adaptation traits.
- Analysis of the current status on conservation of local AnGR; approaches, achievements, gaps and opportunities.
- Community-based conservation (utilization) programs supporting the conservation of adapted AnGR.
The training workshop will include technical presentations; brainstorming and working sessions; and plenary discussions; in addition to hands-on statistical analysis training for genotyping data.
Workshop participants, venue and time
The training workshop will be organized in the period Sunday 3rd to Thursday 7th November 2019, in the main meeting venue of the Animal Health Research Institute (AHRI), Shooting-Club St, Dokki, Giza, Egypt.
