Current Activities

1- The laboratory running different types of chemical and biological contaminants analysis in food and environment such as:
§ Analyze all types of pesticides residues (organochlorine, carbamates, N-methyl carbamets, diothiocarbamates, Benzimidazole, organophosphorus.
§ Heavy Metals residue analysis ; mercury, Cadmium, Copper, Lead and Tin.
§ Analysis of Dioxin and different types of persistent organic pollutants (POPs).
§ Mycotoxins analysis such as Ocratoxins (A) and Aflatoxins (B1, B2, G1 and G2).
§ Nitrate Analysis
§ Benzo (a)pyrene.
§ Methyl Bromide analysis.
§ In Microbiology section; (16 types of hazardous microbes in food) can be detected.

2- Analyzing samples from shipments of products prior to export and issuing accreditation certificates with results.
3- Analyzing samples from certain imported food and agriculture products in order to prevent food not complying with the standards of contaminants to enter the country for local consumption.
4- Monitoring status of chemical and biological contamination in food and agricultural products in the local markets through the National Monitoring Program in the laboratory.
5- Collaboration with the different research institutes in the national sectors i.e. Environment, Irrigation, Health, Universities, Agricultural Research Projects, Organic Agriculture, International Inspection Offices, Export & Import companies, Farmers and Consumers.
5- Training programs for colleagues from Arab Countries in the Region on the sampling and analysis methods adopted in the laboratory, training of inspectors from plant quarantine on the methods of sampling.
6- Risk assessment on pesticide residues in food & Agriculture products.
7- Development and renovating of the methods analysis.
