Objectives
Algria, Egypt, mOROCCO AND tUNISIA, WHERE THEIR NUTRITION AND YIELD ARE AFFECTED BY WATER DEFICIT. The project is founded on the preceding evidence for inter- and intera specific gentic variablity of legumes for tolerance rhizobia to enhance the tolerance to water deficit by the plant. The project involves 10 participants for 7 countries: 3 EU staes and 4 DC Staes of Mediterranean basin.

Achievements
The symbiotic performance of some common and fababean rizobial strains collected from slightly to highly saline and dry soils of two workin g locations of AQUARHIZ project at east and west of the Nile delta were tested. The isolates expressed high symbiotic performance varied with the strain/variety combinations. Some of the isolates were tested in 16 locations for each legume equally distributed among the two working locations.
