Natural viral infection associated with nervous manifestation in some pigeon flocks in North Sinai.

Abstract: A history of sereve mortalities and morbidities beside nervous manifestation among some pigeon flocks from different localities in North Sinai were recorded. Clinical observation, postmortem changes, virological examination of 87 samples from infected pigeon or freshly dead pigeon from 24 pigeon fflocks were performed. Identification tests AGP test, HI test, titration and HA test resulted in the isolation of 48 positive isolates having them agglutination a ctivity (HA) to 1% washed chicken erythroeytes. Revealed the presence of 21 cases of paramyxovirus (PMV) 24.5% 15ND virus isolates 15.5% and 12 untyped islates rºpresenting 13.8% of all samples. Exposing isolated virus strain to heat at 56 Cº for 30 minutes revealed that some isolates are thermolabile and other thernostable. Exprimental infection for pathogenicity and virus reisolation were induced. Histopathological studies to tissue samples from infected cases showed pathological changes in different organs.
