Effect of peanut digging blade type on draft force, power and crop losses.

Abstract: The performance of three types of peanut digging blades, namely; flat-type, curved type and V-shaped type were evaluated under 5 digging forward speeds at "the Council of Cotton Fiber and Oil Crops Pilot Farm" of Nubaria area as reclaimed soil (texture is sandy loamy soil). Digging draft, peanut losses, digger efficiency and yield were considered in this research work.
The results show that the V-shaped type had lower average draft force and power requirement compared with other digger types. For design of simplicity the V-shaped digger type was the best at all 5 forward speeds under test, and should be used as a digging blade in peanut harvesting machine.
