Abstract: The present study was carried out to investigate the effect of the newly produced inactivated bivalent FMD vaccine and the live attenuated peste des petits ruminants (PPR) vaccine on the immune response of susceptible sheep when given simultaneously. FMD bivalent vaccine (type O & A) was developed after the last outbreak of FMD in Egypt (ABD El-Rahman) causing by FMD virus type A. for the first record in Egypt resulting a very high morbidity and mortality rates. Four groups of susceptible local breed of sheep were used in this work, where the first one was vaccinated with PPR vaccine alone, the second was vaccinated with FMD vaccine and the third group was vaccinated simultaneously with the two vaccines while the fourth group was kept without vaccination as test control. Specific antibodies to PPR and FMD type O and A were monitored weekly post vaccination in the sera of vaccinated sheep using serum neutralization test (SNT) and indirect enzyme linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Both tests revealed that there was no antagonizing effect of any vaccine on the immune response of vaccinated sheep where the obtained antibody titers in single vaccinated group were similar to those in simultaneous vaccinated one. So, simultaneous vaccination of sheep with PPR and bivalent FMD vaccine is of applicable benefit saving time, effort and stress factors on the animals.
