immunological response of cattle vaccinated with sheep and bivalent FMD vaccines

Abstract: The immune response of cattle vaccinated with sheep pox vaccinated with sheep pox vaccine (SPV) and foot and mouth disease bivalent (FMDV) either simultaneous or separately was studied. The cellular immune response was evaluated using lymphocyte blastogenesis (MTT) assay. It was found that the cellular immune to SPV was not affected by presence of FMDV in case of simultaneous vaccination. The cell mediated immune response to FMDV was more elevated by presence of SPV as showing earlier and higher levels in case of simultaneous vaccination. The humoral immune response was evaluated by SNT and ELISA. The SPV antibody titers showed slight variation between cattle groups vaccinated with SPV and FMDV simultaneous and animals vaccinated with SPV alone. The results proved that the presence of FMDV with SPV did not affect the immune response of cattle to SPV. The FMDV antibodies were significantly elevated, where animals inoculated with FMDV either at the same time or followed the SPV, showed higher antibody titers than others, while group received FMDV alone showed the lowest titers. So it could be concluded that the cellular and humoral immune response of cattle vaccinated with SPV two weeks before FMDV or that the same or at the same time were better than using FMDV alone or before SPV.
