Extension knowledge needs of mulberry Silkworm breeders 1n Menoufia and Qalioubieh Governorates.

Abstract: This study aims mainly: (1) To determine the knowledge need level of Mul¬berry Silkworm breeders about the recommended practices of breeding. (2) To determine the constraints facing the breeders in natural silk production .
(3) To determine the differences between breeders levels of knowledge need rel¬ated to some personal variables . (4) To develop on extension lan of work to increase the natural silk production in Menoufia and Qaloubieh governorates .
To achieve the objectives of this study, data were collected from (100) breeders of Mulberry Silkworm in the twn ge er-ner e t e r by r r.rnonO) i nt: er v. ewe using a pretested questionnaire .
Means, Critical Ratio, ANOVA test and "F' ratio were used for date analysis

ices of breeding, the differences were not significant:
C ) There were no significant differences between the levels of brooders' know-ledge need related to their age, educational status, families' land holding size, years of experience in breeding, and Mulberry trees holding size .
D ) Six constraints on natural silk production were mentioned by the breeders with percentages ranged between A & 88% .
According to the previous results, the study suggested an extension plan of work to meet both high and moderate knowledge needs of Mulberry i I kwonm breeders by the aim of helping the extension personnel to eei-e the rates of natural silk production in Menoufia and Qal i oub governorates.
