A comparative study for the extension knowledge needs of the Egyptian rural women in eash of desert and valley villages for some agricultural production activities.
Abstract: The study aims at : 1) Determining the contribution of both rural women in desert and valley village in implementing farm practices, 2) Determining the differences between the two groups of respondents in this activity, 3) Determining the knowledge needs of both two groups towards the recommended practices related to some agricultural production activities and 4) Determining the differences between the two groups regarding the studied activities .
Data were collected from 112 women respondent in two villages, one of them is a desert village and the second is a valley village.
The desert group of respondants was selected from Elsalam villages in Sinai Governorate, and the valley group was selected from Nifea village in Gharbea, governorate .
Data were collected by using a pretested questionnaire . Means, "T" test were used for data analysis .
The results of the study revealed that :
1- There was nearly an equality in rural women's participation in both of desert and valley villages related to the implementation of farm practices So there were no significant difference between them in this activity .
2-The extension knowledge need level for farm practices recommendations was low with regard to women of the desert village, and was high with regard to women of the valley village. Difference between the two groups were found significant .
3- Relating to raising milk animals recommended practices, it was found that knowledge need level of desert village women was high, while it was moderate with regard to valley village women .
Difference between the two groups were found significant in this activity .
4- The extension knowledge need level for recommended practices of chicken and rabbits production, was high with regard to both rural woman in the two villages.
No significant difference was found between the two groups of respondents regarding both activities.
Based on these results 3 recommendations were deducted.
