Modulation of immunity by Asperigillus awomari of male broiler chickens exposed to high ambient temperature

Abstract: This study was conducted to evaluate the effect of dietary supplementation of Aspergillus awamori (A. awamori) on innate and adaptive immunity status in male broiler exposed to high temperature. Twenty-four broiler chickens aged 15 days were used in a 2x2 factorial design and the main factors included a dietary supplement (0% or 0.05%) and ambient temperature challenge (22±1 °C or 35±1°C). The birds were raised for 15 d from 30 d of age to evaluate the feed conversion, index of bursa of Fabricius and thymus, Cutaneous basophil hypersensitivity (CBH) response, Heterophil/lymphocyte ratio (H/L), albumin / globulin ratio (A/g) and interleukin-2, 6 gene expression. All traits studied like (feed conversion, index of bursa of Fabricius and thymus, Cutaneous basophil hypersensitivity (CBH) response, Heterophil/lymphocyte ratio (H/L) , albumin / globulin ratio (A/g) and interleukin-2, 6 gene expression) were adversely affected by heat stress group. Addition A.awamori showed beneficial effects in ameliorating the adverse effects resulting from heat stress administration. A.awamori, decreased H/L ratio and A/g ratio, while bursa of Fabricius and thymus were increased. Interestingly, CBH value was increased by feeding A.awamori. Furthermore, mRNA for interleukin-2, 6 were increased expressed in . A.awamori groups compared with control groups. In conclusion, theses results shows the potential immunostimulants effects of A.awamori beside its growth promotion effects in thermoneutral and heat stress condition in broiler chickens.
