يعمل الدكتور كامل عبد السلام، الحاصل على درجة الدكتوراه، حالياً رئيس بحوث ووكيل البحوث بمعهد بحوث أمراض النبات بمركز البحوث الزراعية في الجيزة، مصر.

حصل على درجة الدكتوراه في علم أمراض النبات الجزيئي من جامعة كريستيان ألبريشتس في كيل (ألمانيا) وجامعة قناة السويس (مصر). وفي عام 2008، حصل على زمالة ما بعد الدكتوراه من نفس المؤسسة. عمل الدكتور كامل كأستاذ مشارك زائر في جامعة ماي فاه لوانج في تايلاند، ومعهد علم الأحياء الدقيقة في جامعة توم في ألمانيا، ومختبر علم أمراض النبات في جامعة فاغينينغين في هولندا، وقسم وقاية النبات في جامعة ساساري في إيطاليا.

نشر 40 كتابًا متعلقًا بتطبيقات تكنولوجيا النانو الحيوية في الزراعة وحماية النبات مع دور نشر كبرى مثل سبرينغر وتايلور وفرانسيس وإلسيفير. منذ عام 2017، شغل منصب رئيس تحرير سلسلة كتب إلسيفير للتكنولوجيا الحيوية النانوية لوقاية النباتات ومحرر سلسلة كتب تطبيقات النباتات والميكروبات المعدلة جينومياً في الأغذية والزراعة. بالإضافة إلى ذلك، رئيس سلسله كتب الزراعه المستدامه باشراف مركز البحوث الزراعيه وانتاج دار النشر سبرنجر. رئيس تحرير سلسله كتب تطبيقات النانو التكنولوجي في الزراعه والبيئه دار النشر تايلور وفرانسيس. لازال عضوًا نشطًا في اللجنة الاستشارية لإلسيفير منذ عام 2020، حيث قدم ملاحظات واقتراحات لتحسين منتجات إلسيفير وخدماتها.

وقد نشر أكثر من 332 مقالة بحثية علمية في مجلات دولية وإقليمية متخصصة ذات معاملات تأثير عالية، وله مؤشر H-index 56، ومؤشر i-10 174، وأكثر من 1235 استشهاداً. عمل محررًا زائرًا في مجلة الفطريات والنباتات والكائنات الحية الدقيقة، ومحررًا مراجعًا في مجلة Frontiers in Genomic Assay Technology، ومجلة الكيمياء الزراعية، ومجلة Nano Biology النباتية. تم تصنيفه ضمن أفضل 2% من العلماء الأكثر تأثيرًا في العالم في مجال تكنولوجيا النانو الحيوية للأعوام 2025-2021 من قبل إلسيفير وجامعة ستانفورد. ,في عام 2014، حصل على جائزة اتحاد مجالس البحث العلمي العربية للبحوث العلمية المتميزة في مجال التكنولوجيا الحيوية (علم الجينوم الفطري)، حيث احتل المرتبة الأولى. بالإضافة إلى ذلك، حصل على جائزة الدولة المصرية للتفوق العلمي الزراعي من أكاديمية البحث العلمي والتكنولوجيا، مصر، عام 2022 بميدالية فضية.

تشمل الاهتمامات البحثية تطوير وتحسين أدوات تشخيص الأمان الحيوي للنبات، وفهم جينومات مسببات الأمراض الفطرية، وابتكار مواد نانوية هجينة صديقة للبيئة لمكافحة الفطريات السامة والأمراض النباتية بالإضافة إلى تطبيقاتها في النظم الإيكولوجية الزراعية.
