Achievements
? Design and development of machinery that serve different farming operations:
- Six prototypes in field of planting sugar beet and planting cereal crops.
- Four prototypes for servicing date palm trees, crop irrigation, fertilizer and pesticide application.
- Three prototypes for harvesting corn, soybeans, and citrus crops.
- Thirteen prototypes for threshing cereal crops , grading and handling field and horticulture crops and for, pre-cooling of fresh produce.
? Mechanization of field and horticulture crops:
- Completed twenty-six studies on systems and mechanized operations of different field crops such as cereal crops, cotton, soybeans, some different vegetable and fruit crops.
? On-Farm irrigation:
- Completed twenty-four studies on hydraulics of modern irrigation systems, chemigation, use of local components of irrigation networks, use of modern irrigation systems in field crops, and evaluation of two different filters for irrigation networks.
? Animal production mechanization:
- Completed eight studies on environmental control of fish farms, processing traditional and non-traditional feeds, improvement performance of mechanized processes for egg hatching and birds desfeathering.
? Processing and handling of farm products:
- Completed twelve studies on the physical and mechanical properties of different farm products including field crops (rice, corn, and their byproducts), some fruit crops and their juices, some animal products such as meat cutlets, poultry and fish.
? Power and energy:
- Completed seventeen studies for specifying energy needs for the different mechanized farming operations. Some of those studies also covered the use of renewable energy in agriculture and environmental management.
? Mechanization economics:
- Completed seven economic studies for mechanization of some field crops, covering bottlenecks and limitations of spreading mechanization techniques among farmers. Other areas include feasibility studies on applying technological packages and use of linear programming in deciding the optimum utilization of available resources.
? Technology transfer:
- Completed eleven studies on needs of laser land leveling units, suitable means for sugarcane conveying and loading, and dissemination of mechanization techniques for cereal and oil crops, and professional safety operations.
- One prototype for green cart suitable for crop transportation from fields to storage sites with penumatic system.
-Prototype of solar drier for fruits drying and one prototype of infrared drier.
- New types of plastic storage bags suitable for safe storing of most of cereal crops.
- Technology for the production of spare parts of agricultural equipment of advanced grades of castings
