• The Agricultural Economic Research Institute (Aeri)Was Established In 1943 As The Agricultural Economic Department. Its Main Responsibilities Were The Collection And Analysis Of The Economic And Statistical Data For Different Crops.
• In 1949, It Become The Agricultural Economic And Legislation Department And Consisted Of Three Division :Agricultural Foreign Relations, Statistics, And Agricultural Economics And Legislation.
• In 1958, It Become The Research Department For Agricultural Economic And Statistics.
In 1971 A Presidential Decree Established The General Authority Of The Agricultural Research Center (Arc) , And Aeri Become One Of The First Institutes .
• Since 1971 , Aeri Has Participated With Other Arc Institutes To Improve The Technologies And Services Available To Egyptian Agriculture Through Research And Extension.
• The Institute Performs Activities Through Two Research Sections: The First Is The A Agricultural Statistics Research Sections, Which Conducts The Quantitative, Analytical And Measurement Aspects Of The Institute’s Activities And Contains Two Divisions, The First Is The Agricultural Statistics Research Division.

• The Agricultural Statistics Research Division Has 4 Units :
- Agricultural Census.
- Labor And Wages Statistics.
- Price Statistics And Index Numbers.
- Production Costs Statistics.

• The Activities Of The Agricultural Statistics Research Division:
- Conducting Agricultural Census By Sampling. The Analysis Of This Data Provides Information On Different Economic And Statistical Variables In The Agricultural Sector In Egypt To Be Used For Planning And Decision Making .
- Estimating The Size Of The Labor Forces Required For Cultivating Major Crops To Be Used For Planning .
- Improving Data Collection Methods For Different Agricultural Statistics Related To Labor Forces ,Prices , Wages , Cost Of Production And Agricultural Holding Records Through Conducting Censuses By Sample, Training Enumerators, And Using Computers For Analysis Instead Of Manual Computation .
