Objectives

1. Increasing the productivity and optimizing consumption of berseem.
2. Converting farm residues and agro-wastes to unconventional feed.
3. Introducing berseem variety “Fahl” into the rotation before wheat and after early-maturing rice cultivars and corn.
4. Expansion of alfalfa into newly reclaimed lands.
5. Establishing viable management systems to alleviate the degradation of the pasturelands.
6. Introducing technology of making silage from corn and sorghum stover after harvesting (since it stays green at maturity).
7. Improving the productivity of summer forage crops.
8. Introducing new forage crops that fit with the expansion in the marginal lands and tolerates the harsh conditions.
9. Replacing area planted with fodder corn (Darawa) with corn for silage.
