A summary of the activities of the Plant Pathology Institute during last May

The Ministry of Agriculture and Land Reclamation announced a summary of the most important activities of the Plant Diseases Research Institute, affiliated to the Agricultural Research Center, during the month of May.
Ashraf Khalil, Director of the Institute, said that with regard to following up on the disease situation of crops at the level of the Republic, the researchers of the Institute passed through the governorates of Minya - Assiut - Beni Suef - Ismailia - Gharbia - Dakahlia to find out the disease status of vegetable crops and write appropriate recommendations, as well as Traffic on mango, grape, citrus and pear plantations in the governorates of Qalyubia, Ismailia, Gharbia, and Dakahlia, and giving the necessary recommendations to farmers, as well as passing on palm plantations in Toshka. Appropriate treatments were recommended, as well as the sugar cane crop in Qena and Luxor governorates.
As for the institute’s activities in guidance and training, Khalil indicated that 3 seminars were carried out on sooty mold in mango trees in the centers of Aswan Governorate, a seminar in El-Mahalla El-Kubra in Gharbia Governorate, two seminars in Qena centers, a seminar in Suez Governorate, and 4 seminars in Menoufia Governorate centers, in addition to 10 extension seminars on corn diseases. Khalil explained that the research activity of the Institute, during May, that 6 research papers were published in international scientific journals, and for the production activity, a number of (262) samples of seeds and seeds of different crops and peat moss imported from abroad were examined in the institute’s laboratories to determine the validity of their income in terms of pathological, As well as examining (73) plant samples for companies and farmers to diagnose plant diseases and methods of control, as well as participating in the work of (13) committees for examining plants imported from abroad at the various ports of arrival, and examining (67) farms to indicate that they are free from diseases, as well as the definition of nematode furniture. In addition to examining (24) parcels with seeds of different crops.
