  • The Virtual Extension, Research and Communication Network [VERCON]

  • The objective of the project is to establish a Virtual Extension and Research Communication Network in Egypt in order to strengthen and enable linkages among the research and extension components of the national agricultural knowledge and information system. The overall goal of the project is to improve, through strengthened research-extension linkages, the agricultural advisory services provided to Egyptian farmers and in particular to resource poor farmers, in order to increase production in food and agriculture with the goal of raising farm incomes

  • National Gene Bank Database [NGBDB]

  • Develop a Centralized Database for mangment the gene banke operations • development of the database for the Department gene bank (plant and animal) located • In Egypt, which is stored in the gene bank through this rule by: -- o to locate and quantity of genes inside of refrigerators and work an average of the whereabouts of these genes inside the refrigerator o extraction report on the operations carried out on these genes

  • A Wheat Expert System for the WANA Region [WANA Wheat]


  • 1. To modify the wheat expert system developed for Egypt (NEPER) in a way that would allow the system to be used in all countries in the WANA region
    2. To avail the developed expert system on the WEB
    3. To Train extension workers in the WANA region on using the developed system

  • Development and Dissemination of a Regionally Adapted Internet-Based Agricultural Information System [Regional IS]


  • 1. Conduct a workshop to raise awareness among countries in the region about the usage of the internet for Information exchange.
    2. Develop and information system (IS) that contains documents, statistics, maps, and other information that concerns countries within the region.
    3. Prepare a report on the dissemination strategy for the developed IS
    4. Conduct a regional workshop to introduce the developed IS and to discuss its benefits as well as how to disseminate it.
