Abstract: A field experiment was conducted on a sandy soil in Ismailia Agric. Res. Station, Egypt to study the effect of sulphur and phosphorus as well as the interaction between them on sesame (Giza 25 variety) yield and its components. Treatments comprised in combination of four doses of sulphur (0, 0.5, 1.0 and 2.0 ton/fed.) and phosphorus (0, 30, 45 and 60 kg P2O5/fed.). Generally, it can be concluded that under the present investigation increasing the application of s as well as P fertilizers significantly increased sesame yield and its components up to certain doses of 1.0 ton S/fed. and 45 kg P2O5/fed. in contrast, appreciable reduction in the sesame yield has been found with flirther increase of S and P levels. As for seeds quality of sesame, it was also found that S or p application or progressively increased seeds oil content up to 1.0 ton S/fed. and 45 kg P2O5/fed., respectively. Whereas, no appreciable change in the oil content has been found with the relatively high levels of both S and P. The highest content of oil was recorded with the combined application of 45 kg P2O5+1.0 ton S/fed. Protein content in seeds increased significantly with increasing the doses of P and S up to 45 P2O5/fed. and 1.0 ton S/fed., respectively, beyond which the content decreased.
