Effect of different sources of calcium and phosphorus on peanut plant grown on sandy soils

Abstract: Two field experiments were conducted at Ismailia Research Station during successive growing summer seasons 2001 and 2002, to investigate the effect of different sources of Ca and P on peanut plant grown on sandy soils.
The obtained results could be summarized as follows:
1. Dry matter of peanut seeds and growth parameters increased significantly with all treatments under study as compared with the control.
2. The highest values were obtained from the combined treatments of Ca and P
3. The lowest values were obtained with the application of gypsum + Ca nitrate (702 kg/fed).
4. NPK uptake and protein content of peanut seeds increased significantly. The highest increased was obtained when gypsum fertilizer found.
5. NPK uptake of peanut straw was hesitated between slight increase and decrease as compared with the control. This is due to the activation of phospholipids and nucleic acids in seeds at the later stages of growth.
6. It should take in consideration that gypsum application is very importance together with phosphorus in order to benefit the yield of peanut plant.
