KNOWLEDGE COMMUNICATION ABOUT CONTEMPORARY ECONOMIC ORIENTATIONS IN EGYPT AMONG THE AGRICULTURAL EXTENSION AGENTS IN DAKAHLIA AND SOHAG GOVERNORATES

Abstract: The research aimed to explore the sources knowledge of agricultural extension agents interviewees in Dakahlia and Sohag Governorates on some contemporary economic orientations which Are :free market system, G.A.T.T. agreements, Egyptian- European partnership, Also to determining differences in their utilizing such sources. Besides determine the knowledge level as well as the differences in knowledge for each of the studied economic orientations, and the relationship between interviewees knowledge levels and some independent variables.
The study was carried out in Dakahlia and Sohag governorates, where from each, three districts were chosen randomly. A sample amounted to 135 interviewees, representing 15% of the total agricultural extension personnel in these districts was randomly selected. The distribution of sample was consisting of 79 and 56 interviewees from Dakahlia and Sohag governorates, respectively. Data was collected by a pretested and modified schedule interview suitable to the studied research objectives, Results were presented and analyzed using tables of frequencies, percentages, chi2. fredman test, contingency coefficient, standard diviation, arithmetic mean and weighted average.

The study revealed the following important results:
1. Extension Agents utilized mass media methods for acquiring knowledge on the studied contemporary economic orientations, with percentages higher than personal and group contact methods.
2- The agricultural extension agents interviewees varied in their rates of utilization of one and other economic orientation.
3- Percentage of interviewees knowledge level on objectives of free market system (69.6%) was higher than G.A.T.T. agreements (42.2%) and Egyptian- European partnership (34.8%).
4- Percentage of those having high knowledge level about positive sides of free market system (37.0%) was higher than those related to G.A.T.T. Agreements (29.6%) and Egyptian- European partnership (26.7%).
5- The average knowledge level amounted to (2.65) degrees for objectives of free market system, and (2.08) for its positive aspects, while the average were (2.18& 2.03) degrees for objectives and positive aspects of G.A.T.T., and (1.97 & 1.82) degrees for objectives and positive aspects respectively of Egyptian - European partnership.
6- It was found that academic degree have a positive moderate correlation with interviewees knowledge level on the three studied economic orientations.
