Training needs of agricultural extension agents (a. e. a.) in the field of reducing the chemical fertilizers and pesticides use of cotton crop at kafer El-sheikh and Dakhlia governorates

Abstract: This research aimed mainly to determining training needs level of (A.E.A.) regarding the recommendation practices to reduce the use of fertilizers and pesticides of cotton crop, its relationship with some independents variables, and determining training methods which respondents prefer at this field. The study was conducted at eight districts four them in Kafr El-Sheikh and the other in Dakhllia Governorate. Data was collected through personal interview by using questionnaire form, a random sample amounting to 215 respondents representing about 45% of the total number of (A.E.A.) in selected districts, Chi-Square Contingency, Arithmetic mean, Standard deviation, Frequencies and Percentages ware used to analyze date.
The main findings of the study were as follows:
1-The training need level of the about half (45%) of respondents were moderate and about third (30%) of them have high need level in this field.
2-The most subjects which the respondents need to develop their knowledge regarding recommendation practices were: using the chemical pesticide alternative, plant decease, herbicide and organic fertilizers by high need, on the other hand they have a moderate level need regarding, fouler fertilizers micro elements fertilizer amount, using of fungicide, foramens traps, chemical pesticide condition use, accurse and aphit control.
3-Significant relationship at (0.01) was found between reducing the use of chemical fertilizers and pesticides and each of independent, variables: education qualification, experiences in agric. extension work, exposure to agric. information resources and pesticides harm,
4-The most preferable training methods were demonstration, field Training and group discussion.
