Social problems at fishing communities Around Burullus and Bardaweel lakes

Abstract: This study aims mainly at identifying the social problems which face the fishing communities around Burullus and Bardaweel lakes assessing the differences between the two areas regarding facing those problems, and finally identifying the fishers' suggestion for overcoming those problems.
The data were collected through personal interview using pretested questionnaire from a random sample amounted to 250 respondents. Frequencies , percentages , weighted means and (T) test were used to analyse the data.
The main results of this study were :
1- There is a similarity between the respondents of the two areas regarding the problems they face: High Prices of fish net, unavailability of finance, fry of fish, discrimonance among disobedients, increase disobedient income leads the others to violate, lack of sources for increasing revenue, unemployment among learned youth , lack of health insurance for the fisherman and his family, spread of flies and mosquitoes, not finding drinking water all the time.
2- There is no significant difference between Burullus and Bardaweel communities in social security problems (1.698),(1.522) and household problems (1.356) ,(1.249).
3- The Burullus area suffers from house environment problems (1.665), Lake Environment problems (1.591) and fishing problems (1.564) .
4- The Bardaweel area suffers from governing foundations problems (1.162) and fishing problems (1.123)
