Knowledge of new land planters carrying out the recommended practices in sharkia governorat's villages

Abstract: The research aimed at recognizing the level of knowledge of new land planters who are the subjects of carrying out the recommended practices in wheat production in the studied area, deciding the relationship between their knowledge extent of carrying out these practices and the following studied independent variables (age, size of agriculture ownership in the new land, the cultivated wheat area in the new land, the experience years number in cultivating wheat in the new land, the average of the feddan,s productivity of wheat in the new land, the number of formal education years, the extent of frequency to the agricultural service centres, the extent of the exposure to sources of agricultural information and the extent of participating in extension activities and the tendency to the agricultural modernizations.
The research was conducted on a random sample chosen from wheat planters in the new land in the two villages of AL Azazy AL Gadida and AL Fath in the agricultural administration of AL Salheya AL Gadida and the two villages of AL Salam and AL Kateba in the agricultural administration of Belbies reached 240 subjects.
The questionnaire with the personal interview was used as a tool to collect the research data during January 2005 and the data was treated quantitively and analysis was done by using numbers, Percentages, the median, the standard deviation, the percentage of the mean and the simple co-efficient liberson.
The most important results of the research were as follows:
-The level of the subjects knowledge in carrying out the recommended practices concerning the processes of preparing the land and cultivating it, the processes of serving the crop after cultivation and harvest was average, where the percentage of averages of the subjects of their totals where 59.4% and 58.1% respectively.
-The level of the subjects knowledge in carrying out the recommended practices concerning fighting pests was low, where the percentage of averages of the subjects in this group of processes was 30.1%.
-The level of the subjects knowledge in carrying out the recommended practices in wheat production in the new land was low where the percentage of averages of the subjects of their totals was 43.1%.
-There is a significant direct relationship between the extent of knowledge of the subjects in carrying out the recommended practices concerning the total processes of preparing the land and cultivating it and all of their studied independent variables.
