The contributions of the agricultural requirements merchants in conveying the agricultural techniques of vegetable crops in East Delta region

Abstract: The research aimed at knowing the level of the subjects's of the research conttibution from the agricultural requirements merchants in conveying the agricultural techniques of the studiedvegetable crops and the relationship of each their following independant variables :- (the age, the educational, the qualification, the job, the housing place, the place of the practice of the agricultural requirements trade, the experience period, the activities numbers which he practises in the agricultural requirements trade and the other positions contact degree which conveys the agricultural techniques in the study area) with their contribution's level in conveying these techniques as well knowing their means of communication with other parties that convey the agricultural techniques in the studied area and types of activities that these merchants practise.
The study also attempted to recognize the obstacles which face them in conveying the agricultural techniques of thevegetable crops from their point of view and their suggestions to overcome these obstacles .
Questionaire was used with personal interview as a tool to collect data necessary for the-study , data was collected during February 2004 from a sample of agricultural requirements merchants who are licensed in sharkia and Ismalia governnorates and their number mounted 150 subjects .
Analaysing data statisticaly was conducted by using number, percentages , means , the percentage of the average, the decisive mean, kay square ( x2 ) and adjustment coofficient the most important results of the study were as follows :
1-The general level of the contributions of the subjects from agricultural requirements merchants in conveying the agricultural techniques of the vegetable crops was average where their contributions percentage 67.8%.
2-There is moral relationship among the following independant variables of the subjects ( the level of education of the subject – type of his qualification – the number of activities that he practises in trading agricultural requiRements – his age – his main profession and his headquarter of agricultural requirements trading ) and the level of their contributions in conveying the agricultural techniques of the studiedvegetable crops . the most important means of communications used by the subjects to contact with other parties that convey agricultural techniques in the area of study were informal personal visits then phone calls, seminars and meetings.
All the subjects of the study practise trading agricultural insectcide, four fiFFth of them practise trading seeds , three quatters practise trading agricultuRal fertilizers , half of them practise trading chemical fertilizers , one third practise trading agricultural equipements and all of them practise more than one activity at the same time.
The most important obstacles face the subjects in conveying agricultural techniques of thevegetable crops from their point of view are the high prices of the modern agricultural techniques and the monopoly of some merchants of them, the reduction the prices of agricultural crops, trading in some of the agricultural requirements without a licence, the preference of some cultivators to deal with the governmental and co-operative sector and the weakness of communicating with the governmental agricultural extension system.
The most important suggestions of the subjects to overcome the obstacles that face them in conveying the agricultural techniques of thevegetable crops are : the necessity to define the needs of the cultivators from the modem agricultural techniques, providing the modern agricultural techniques in the appropriate time for the cultivators use, preparing some of the requirements in small packets to fit the small areas of the cultivators and providing them in suitable quantities and discussing the problems of using the modem agricultural techniques with the concerned systems of conveying agricultural techniques
