Knowledge of the graduate and beneficiaries of the recommended techniques to reduce the loss of tomato crop and its relationship with some socio economic variables

Abstract: This study aimed at identifying the knowledge levels of the graduates and beneficiaries wives concerning the recommended technologies of reducing tomato crop loss during the production and marketing stages, in addition of specifying the relationship between their knowledge degrees for the mentioned technologies and some of socio-economic variables.
Data were collected from sample of ( 150 ) rural women by using personal interviewe in 5 villages of Banger El Sucker area in West of Nubaria. These villaes were: El-Ola , and El- Zohour of the graduates villages, while: The first village, The fifth village , and The seventh village were of beneficiaries villages . Data were tabulated, processed and analyzed by using Spearman correlation, averages, Z. test, as well as frequencies and percentages.
The main results of the study revealed that:
1- The knowledge level of the respondents rural women either of the graduates or the beneficiaries wives about the crop recommended technologies was low in all the crop processes, production , harvesting, packing , and transportation.
2- No significant differences between the respondent wives of the graduate wives, and beneficiaries regarding the knowledge level of the recommended technologies of the crop production process, while it was significant regarding the harvesting process.
3- A significant relationship at 0.05 level was found between the graduates wives knowledge degree of the recommended technologies for reducing the crop loss during the production stage and the animal holding, while there was a negative significant relationship at 0.05 level, and both of crop cultivated area, and house equipment holding, in addition to home status, while there was a significant relationship between graduates wives regarding the knowledge degree of the recommended technologies for reducing crop loss during the harvesting stage with the husband age at 0.05 level, there were a significant relationship between the beneficiaries wives knowledge and their age, period of marriage, land holding, crop cultivated area, house equipment holding. and home status at 0.01 level, in addition to animal holding at 0.05 level. Regarding the rest of the studied variables, no relationship was found between them and the graduates wives knowledge degree of mentioned recommended technologies during the production stage
