A comparative study of holders and non-holders of small scale enterprises and its relationship with some variables affecting their attitudes towards these enterprises in Menia goverernorate

Abstract: To achieve the research objectives, concerning male and female attitude of holders and non-holders of small scale enterprises in Menia governorate, research was conducted in the following villages: Tala, Saft Khemar, Al-Bergayla, Damsher and Hehia in Menia district (markaz), Samalout, Kalousina, Al-Tawfekiah, Al-Beho and Ban! Ghanl in Samalout district (markaz).
Two samples were selected; first a random sample with a percentage no less than 5% of total male and female, holders of small scale enterprises from records of village banks in each village, with a total of 300 holders (M/F). The second sample was .randomly chosen from rural people neighbors of previous holders with total of 300 non holders (M/F).
Data were collected using personal Interview questionnaire after a pre-test to Insure the questionnaire reliability in achieving the research objectives, and were collected during August and September 2003.
The results revealed the following:
•A significant variance at 0.05 was found among interviewees' attitude degrees - holders of such enterprises - towards these enterprises for male and female. A significant variance at 0.01 was found among interviewees' attitude degrees - "non-holders" of such enterprises - towards these enterprises for male and female.
•There are about six (6) Independent variables contribute In explaining variance in male attitude degree "holders" of small-scale enterprises in Menlo governorate which are: Interviewee participation In developmental projects,, years of interviewee's experience in agriculture, number of. social' organizations affiliated by interviewee, interviewee's culture cosmopoltans interviewee's leadership and Interviewee's education.
•There are three (3) independent variables contribute in explaining the"; variance In female attitude degree "holders" of small-scale enterprises, In Menia governorate which are: Interviewee participation in developmental.' projects, number of social organizations affiliated by Interviewee, interviewee' age.
•There are two (2) independent variables contribute in explaining the variance in male attitude degree "non -holders" of small-scale enterprises in Menlo governorate which are: unemployment of uneducated people,' Interview family ownership of domestic facilities.
•There are four (4) independent variables contribute in explaining the variance; in female attitude degree "non -holders" of small-scale enterprises in Menia governorate which are: interviewee's innovativeness, number of social organizations affiliated by Interviewee, unemployment of uneducated people and interviewee's age.
•The motives of having such enterprises from male and female point of view - "holders" - were: lack of Income, high prices and unavailable job opportunities.
