Some variables which are affecting the adoption of rice farmers to the new agricultural techniques in sharkia governorate

Abstract: The main objectives of this study were to:
Determine the level of adoption of rice farmers to the new agricultural techniques, and also determining the relationship between the degree of adoption and some studied independent variables, and also determining how does each one of the related independent variables participate in explaining the adoption of rice farmers to the new agricultural techniques related to the rice crop.
Also identify the extension services which the extension agriculture presented to the rice farmers to help them on the adoption of the new agricultural techniques in addition to the identification of the information sources which the farmers depend on getting their information about those techniques, and identify the problems of adoption of rice. farmers to those techniques.
Data were collected from random sample of 200 respondents from Sharkia Governorate by personal interviews using protested questionnaire during November, 2003 simple correlation coefficient, multiple correlation and regression analyses (step-wise) and means standard deviation , coefficient of variance , and Rang were used to analyze data statistically in addition to frequencies, percentages and tables.
The results of this study revealed that:
The increase of the level of the adoption of rice respondent farmers to the innovation of the new varieties which are highly productive Also the level of adoption was moderate for the innovation of using the clomping in harvesting rice, which the level of adoption was low for the innovations regarding the addition of zinc sulphat, growing fish in rice fields and the addition of biofertilization, which the general level to the adoption of rice farmers for the new agricultural adoption of rice farmers for the new agricultural techniques was moderate (37.18%). There were three independent variables affected significantly the degree of adoption by 55.9%, these three variables were: the degree of exposure to the agricultural information sources, the area planted with rice, the degree of leadership .
The most important sources of information that rice farmers depend on getting their information about the new agricultural techniques were: T.V agricultural programs, the extension guide, friends & neighbors, and the director of agricultural society.
About the most important problems in adoption of rice farmers were: increase the prices of the new varieties seedlings, the unawareness of the importance of the biofertilization of rice crop, and the unawareness (lithe importance of the addition of zinc. Sulphat to rice crop.
