Educational requirements for graduates in the field of modern irrigation systems in the new lands at Nubaria sector.

Abstract: This study aims mainly at identifying. educational requirements for graduates in using modern irrigation systems at Nubaria sector and their applicaions for technical recommendations in the domains of operating, maintaining, and fertilization. This entails recognizing the relationship between some independent variables and the educational requirement of modern irrigation systems as well as identifying the problems which impede high efficiency of modern irrigation systems from their points of view.
The study covers three villages to represent areas of Bustan 1, Bustan 2, and Bustan 3. they are Najeab Mahfouz village, El Gazaly village, and El showhada. A random sample consisted of 164 respondents are selected randomly from a population of 1551 according to Scott equation : 1985, Approximately 104 respondents are sprinkler irrigation users whereas the remainder are dripping irrigation users Data were collected via a questionnaire. They are classified into categories for analytical purposes.
Percentages, averages, standard duration, frequencies, Chi-square, oefficient, and simple correlation coefficient are used.
The study findings reveal that 45.9 % of the respondents lack moderately and highly educational orientation in the field of modern irrigation techniques .
Chi-square results indicated a significant differences at p = 0.01 betrw°een the level of educational requirements as a dependent variable on the one hand and educational level and irrigation pattern whereas no relationships exist between the dependent variable and the academic specialization of the graduates .
Asignificant correlation is found between graduates educational requirements and the following independent variables : respondent, age, physical efforts exerted in farming land, participation in irrigation activities, attitudes toward the career of culturale land in the new reclaimed areas, and irrigation innovativeness. No significant correlation exist between the dependent variable and the following independent variables : past experience in agriculture work , aspiration to improve farming conditions, satisfaction with the dominant irrigation system, and contact with change agents.
The respondents set their problems that impede the application of modern irrigation techniques as fallows : frequent cut of electrical curnt 42.7 % , expensive cost of irrigation network maintenance (32.3%), inadequacy of irrigation level and low water level at canals (29.9%), expensive cost of setting drip irrigation network (15.2%), lack of experience in repairing mechanical motors (3%) , and no funding budget to finance turning into dripping irrigation system. (2.4%).
