Rural Woman's Role in Producing Some Vegetable Crops in Some Villages of El - Gharbia Governorate

Abstract: - The majority of the respondents implementing pre – farming and
harvesting activities of vegetable crops with high level.

- There was a significant relationship between the total degree of the
respondents production role of vegetable crops and each of the
following independent variables which were: the total cultivated
area , years of experience in vegetable growing, the degree of of
the standard of living of the rural household, the number of family
members, and family type.

- The most important problems faced the respondents were: lack of
irrigation water, high fertilizer prices, high costs of vegetable
production , pollution of water canals and banks , and high land
rent prices.

- The suggestions of the respondents to overcome the problems in
they fact in the field of vegetable crops production were: providing
irrigation water, subsidizing chemical fertilizers, supporting the
costs of production of vegetables, cleaning of canals and banks,
and best control.Abstract
This research aims at identify the role of rural women in
producing some vegetable crops with regard to the following three
phases: pre-farming operation , agriculture operation , and harvesting
operation , also determine the relationship between the total degree of
rural woman's roles and the some independent variables , as well as
indentifying the problems which face the respondents in the
production of vegetable crops , and their suggestions to overcome
these problems.
The study was conducted in the three villages of El Gharbia
Governorate; a regular random samp;e amounted to 140 woman were
selected from farmers' wives .
Data were collected through personal interview by using a
questionnaire during February and March 2017. Data were analyzed
statistically by using the arithmetic mean, the range, person's simple
correlation coefficient, and the Chi square test.

the main findings of the research were as follows:
- Approximately more than two thirds of the respondents had a
moderate level in regards creith the implementation of the
production activities of vegetable crops, while more than a quarter
of than had a high level.
