The relative importance of some mass media methods, and its impact on potato's farmers information in new lands.

Abstract: The main objectives of this study are: determining the degrees of farmers exposure to mass media methods, identifying the relative importance of mass media methods in respect of other extension communication methods that were exposed by respondent farmers in new lands in El Beheira governorate, in addition to; recognize knowledge respondent farmers, level related to potato's, recommendations of planting and producing in new lands.
Also, this study amid at identifying the relationship between respondent farmers knowledge levels related to recommendations of potato planting and producing and their exposure degrees to different communication methods, Hence identifying percentage of participation of exposure degrees to different communication methods in the total variation explaining knowledge-degrees of respondent farmers related to planting and producing of potato.
Data were collected randomly from 200 farmers in west Nubaria and Bostan districts in El Beheira governorate. A Personal pre-tested questionnaire was utilized for data collection throughout personal interview.
Results were presented and analyzed using tables of frequencies, percentage, standard deviation, Arithmetic mean, weighted mean, Analysis of variance "E" test, Simple correlation coefficient, Step Wise multiple correlation and regression analysis.
The study revealed the following important results:
1 - Radio having the highest exposure degree among the other mass media methods (96%).
2 - Mass media methods reinforced by other methods having the highest weighted mean (3.19) while it was (1.72) for the other communication methods, and (1.36) for mass media methods.
3 - According to hypothesis tests results, there are significant differences between exposure degrees of respondent farmers to different communication methods on level 0.01.
4 - The mean of percentages for respondent farmers' knowledge level that related to recommendations of potato planting and producing was (69.01%).
5 - There were significant relationships on levels 0.05 -0.01 between respondent farmers knowledge' degrees related to recommendations of potato's planting and producing and the degrees of exposure to different communication methods except the relationship between four of dependents and independents studied variables.
6- Mass media methods reinforced by others and mass media only participated with percentage (54.8%), while the other communication methods participated with percentage (10.5%) of the total variation explaining knowledge level degrees of respondents regarding studied recommendations in new lands, the total participation percentage of the three independent variables in the dependent variable was (65.30%).
