Developing a scale for professional personality traits of local agricultural extension agents

Abstract:
This study aims mainly to Develop a Scale for the main traits of extension agents' personality as a basis of their Job efficiency and success in performan¬ing their educational extension responsibilities
The study determined 13 personality traits . Each one was measured by three statements.
The test of the scale validity was conducted through
a) Jury of 18 professor and experts in Agricultural Extension, Rural Sociology, education and psychology.
b) Content validity.
c) Internal validity.
d) Statistical validity.
Scale of reliability was tested by both Alfa Coefficient and Brown-Spearman coefficient.
Depending upon the validity and reliability results, the scale was consider¬ed accepted for professional application purposes both of interal consistency and discrimination ability .
The scale was applied to a systematic random sample amounted to 113 extension agents representing 33% of extension workers in Sohag governorate and 3.3% of all extension agents in A.R.E. .
The application of this developed scale revealed a variation between local extension agents in the availability of each studied trait . It also showed that 36.3% of respondents have highly personality traits . But 27.4% of respondents have low personality traits .
The study consider this scale one of the scientific trials which could be applied in studying Agricultural Extension Personnel.
