Educational effects of using slide sets in extension

Abstract: Slide sets are considered one of the most appropriate extension aids. Today, advancement in technology makes it possible to synchronize audio-sound tracks with the use of slides. There has become an urgent need for some specialized scientific research dealing with using this innovation in extension services. This empirical research was designed to evaluate it's utilization in transferring rice cultivation recommendations to farmers. Nine groups of respondents, each consisting of 20 individuals, were chosen with pre-conditions of good vision, hearing and minimum three years experience cultivating rice. There was no significance differences between the groups of respondents regarding age, land ownership, productivity and level of education. By using matching techniques and taking in consideration those previously mentioned factors. 120 respondents were exposed to the slide set whereas 50 respondents were exposed to the synchronized audio slide set. Based on pre- and post-tests, the results obtained can be summarized as follows:
1. Both sets of groups gained knowledge as result of being exposed to the respective presentations of rice cultivation recommendations.
2. The groups exposed to the synchronized audio slide set gained more knowledge in comparison with the groups exposed only to the slide set.
