A comparative study to some characteristics of rural women opinion leaders in two different geographic areas

Abstract: This study aimed to recognize the difference among rural women opinion leaders personal and situational characteristics in two different geographic areas (two villages in each of lower and upper Egypt). Also studying differences between their husbands concerning some of their personal characteristics affecting rural women opinion leaders behavioral leadership.
Data was collected from (4) villages which were Atwab and Zawiah El-Masloub of Beni-Sweif Governorate (Upper Egypt), and Sandanhour and Meet Aasem of Kalubia Governorate (Lower Egypt). Using personal interview questionnaire for a regular random sample amounting to (400) interviewees at a rate of 100 per each village from femal land holders and male holders wives from the agricultural cooperative records .No of chooser opinion leaders were (95) ones (53) in lower Egypt and (42) in Uper Egypt.
Percentages and chi-square were used to analyze the data
The study revealed the following main results:
1- Related to personal and situational characteristics of rural women opinion leaders, it was found that there is significant difference between both those female opinion leaders in the lower and upper Egypt :
a) At the 0.01 level for their land size of holding, family ownership home equipments, family ownership of agricultural machinery, Aspiration educational level of male children, and contact with change agents.
b) At the 0.05 level for their living period in the villages and exposure to information resources.
c) No significant differences were found related to the rest of (17) independent variables of the study.
2- Related to the personal characteristics of rural women opinion leaders' husbands, it was found that there was significant difference between the persons in both lower and upper Egypt for only independent variable at the 0.05 level which was the additional job for the husbands while the rest of relationship of the remainary (4) other independent variables in the study were insignificant.
