The impact of in-service extension training programs on extension supervisory staff information in some districts of Kafr El-Shaikh governorate

Abstract: As training is one of the most important means used to develop the extension staff, some extension supervisors were trained in Kafr El-Shaikh Governorate aiming to improve their knowledge concerning extension activities, as well as raising the quality of their performance.
A sample of 120 extension supervisors-was chosen to be trained from the staff working in the districts of : #safer F1-Shaikh, Foah, Mtobus, El-Riad and Biala, in Kafr EI-Shaikh Governorate. Me sample was studied to identify the degree of change in their knowledge obntained throughout the training programs, and also to identify the relationship between the degree of change in the trainees' knowledge and ' some personal and professional characteristics. The data was processed, presented and analyzed using percentages, arithmatic mean, Z test, simple correlation and Chi square.
The results revealed that :
The information of the trainees increased in all training topics as a result of the training program on extension methodology which included : The concept and objectives of Agricultural Extension, Principals and criteria of extension supervision, Extension management and the responsibilities of the supervisory staff, Communication methods and aids, Developing extension programs, Monitoring and evaluating extension activities, Leadership in extension' work,. The methods of training needs assessment, Evaluation of training programs, The integration of local knowledge system, Steering work group activities, Managing information _systems and, The problems of extension work and how to overcome them- The percentage of increase in the trainees' information ranged between 19.07% and 41_7% in the subjects of Agricultural Extension work in the scope of economical reform and, Extension communication and its role in diffusing innovations sequentially_
It was found that The variables of "time' period spent in extension work and, the number of training courses attended by trainees were correlated positively with the increase of the trainees' information after training, while the relationship between the dependent variable and the time since the last training course attended was correlated negatively.
