Role of the female students in the faculty of agriculture, king Saudi univ. in their family food and nutrition extension area

Abstract: This study aims at: - Determining - the extension knowledge and implementation level of recommendation in food and nutrition area for two groups of Saudian women. - Determining the differences, between two groups of respondents towards the means of knowledge and implementation. degrees of those recommendations, and the relationship between level of' knowledge and implementation extension recommendations in food and nutrition area and some of the respondents Socio-economic characteristics.
The study was conducted on a systematic random sample of 98 Saudian women: 58 of them are an experimental group from the families of female students of faculty of agriculture, and the second group was 40 Saudian women as control group from the families of the female students of other three faculties in the same Univ., Data were collected by a questionnaire during 1994 first semester. Ratio percent, means, (T) test and chi square, were used for data analysis
The results of the study revealed that:
- The extension knowledge level of Saudian women regarding food and nutrition extension area was high for one fourth of the experimental group, and moderate for most of them, most of the control group knowledge of same area was of low level.
- The level of implementing extension recommendations was moderate and high for most of the experimental group, and it was low for most of the control group.
- There was significant differences between the two groups of the Saudian women regarding: a) knowledge level of recommendations at 0.01 level of significance. b) Implementing extension recommendations at .05 level of significance .
- No significant relationship was found between levels of knowledge or implementing extension recommendations in food and nutrition area and any of the socio-economic characteristics of respondents the experimental group.
- This means that Female students of faculty of Agriculture has increased the level of knowledge and practices of their mothers regarding extension recommendation in food and nutrition extension area.
