Some factors affecting attitudes of youth in agricultural education toward work and settlement in south valley project (Toshka)

Abstract: The success of south valley project is based on the good selection of youth who work and settlement in new communities in south valley. Therefore this study aims to identifying the attitudes of youth in agricultural education toward work and settlement in south valley; identifying their social, economical, agricultural characteristics; and determine the relationship between their attitudes and their characteristics.
Data were collected from agricultural high school and colleges in governorates of Alexandria, Matruh, and Al-Bahara. Three hundred youth were sampled, one hundred from agricultural high school and two hundreds from agricultural colleges,
Findings of descriptive analysis reveal that 66.7% were male, 33.3% were female, 49.3 were from rural areas, 61.3% were having strong motives for dependence from the native family, 48% were having high degree of satisfying about the project, 57 4% were having, moderate level of aspiration, 52% were having motive to get a large income, 33.3% were wing investments after graduates, 33.3% were from high school, 66.7% were from colleges, 36% were their parents working in agricultural sector, and 34.3% of youth were practicing in agricultural work.
Also, the findings show that 413% were having high degree of socioeconomic value project, 52% were having moderate degree of information and knowledge about project, 56% were having strong attitudes toward agricultural work in project, and 33.3% of youth were having strong attitudes toward work and settlement in south valley.
The findings from correlation show a statistically significant positive association between attitudes of agricultural education youth toward work and settlement in south valley td their satisfy degree, their aspiration level, their motive to get a large income, total of their investments after graduates, and their practicing in agricultural work. The findings from path analysis models say that there were a statistically significant total and direct effects of aspiration level of youth, their motives to get a large income, total of their investments after graduates on their attitudes toward work and settlement in south valley.
The independent variables that were included in path analysis models explained a total 38% of the variance in attitudes of agricultural education youth toward work and settlement south valley project The findings of study will be given, the planers for settlement programs, the socio economic characteristics of youth that support selectivity of them for youth valley project (Toshki).
