Educational knowledge effects of using vocal tap recordings in the field of animal production

Abstract: This study was initiated to :
(1) Determine knowledge level of cattlemen control group . (2) Determine knowledge level of cattlemen experimental group regarding the recommendations of animal production.(3) Determine differences between knowledge level of control group and experimental group regarding these recommendations. (4) Determine the techniques and extension services offered to cattlemen. (5) Identify the problems facing those cattlemen.(6) Identify their suggestions to solve their problems.
Data were collected by personal interviews from two random samples of cattlemen . The first sample represented the control group and the second sample represented the experimental group. Each group amounted to 200 cattlemen in six villages at Gharbia , Sharkia and Giza governorates .The study used vocal tape recording which contained 126 recommendations of cattle production. "Z " test was used to analyze data statistically, in addition to frequencies and percentages .
The results of the study were as follows :
1- The knowledge level of cattlemen control group was low regarding to all the 12 processes which the study contained .
2- The knowledge level of cattlemen experimental group was high regarding nine processes which were : post - partum calf care , cattle feeding , dairy cattle husbandry , calves addional feeding, feedering , insemination , calf weaning , calf rearing and
preparing breeding stables . while this level of knowledge was moderate regarding three processes which were: post - partum cattle husbandry , pregnent cattle husbandry and health care .
3- There were significant differences between knowledge degrees of the experimental group respondents were exposed to vocal tape recording and control group respondents in all processes of cattle production which this study contained in favour of the experimental group.
4- The main techniques and extension services offered to cattlemen respondents were : holding extension meetings , vaccinating cattle at the veterinary units , cattle medical treatment and distribution of extension bulletins .
5-
6- Thirteen problems were found facing cattlemen respondents of the study of which five problems were mentioned with more than 50% of respondents . These are : Inadequate of concentrated fooder , high prices of dry and concentrated fooders , high prices of verterinary drugs , inadequate of proper vaccines in veterinary units and cancelling providing concentrated fooder with prices supported by Cattle Insurance Fund.
7- Respondents cattlemen suggested thirteen suggestions to face problems of cattle production . Five suggestions were mentioned with more than 50% of respondents There are : Providing concentrated fodder , reducing prices of fodders , reducing prices of veterinary drugs , providing enough proper vaccines in veterinary units and return the system of providing concentrated fooder with supported price through the Cattle Insurance Fund .
Based on the previous results , the study suggested much care should be taken by those responsible for livestock production regarding upgrading knowledge of cattle production and taking in consideration the respondents suggestions to solve cattlemen problems and encourage them to increase their production.
