A study of the prospective role of agricultural extension in maximizing intercropping to increase agricultural productivity among farmers at some districts of E1-Beheira and Alexandria governorates
Abstract: this study aimed mainly to determine the most important problems of intercropping and to study the prospective role of Agricultural Extension in maximyzing intercropping to increase vertical agricultural Productivity among farmers at some district of EL-¬Beheira and Alexandria Governorates. Data were collected from a sample 125 of farmers by filling out questionnaires through Personal interview.
Results showed That Ten important advantage for intercropping as follows :
I- High yield of crops. 2-good utilization of land. 3- improvement the soil.
4- protect farm diseases. 5- protect from wind 6- stability of prices. 7- low weeds.
8- water management. 9- fertilizer management. 10- protect the crop.
The importance of intercropping Problems were :
I- Requires special experience. 2- difficult mechnical harvesting,
3- high cost. 4- postpone of next crop . 5- need continuous follow up.
The role of agricultural extension in this regard:
1- to give the farmers new innovativeness. 2- used the Extension methods and Audio visual aids. 3- new method in intercropping . 4- Extension marketing . 5-preparing and conducting training programs for farmers.
