Some factors affecting the extension agents communication with farmers in Qalioubia and Sharkia governorates

Abstract: This study objectives were to determine the relationship between the degree of extension agents performance of communication processes by with farmers and some independent variables to determine the percentage of contribution of some independent variables which have significant relationship with the dependent variable in explaning the variance in each dependent variable to determine the relationship between the degree of the importance of communication processes of extension agents with farmers and some independent variables and to determine the percentage of contribution of some independent variables which are significant relationship with the studied dependent variables in explaining the variance in the dependent variables.
This study was conducted in:
A) El Kaliarbia governorate at 3 districts: El kanater El khairihia- Toukh. and Benha.
B) El Sharkia Governorate at 3 districts Menia El kamh- El Zakazik- and Abou Hamad.
A random sample of 150 extension agents were choosen from the 6 districts.
Data were choosen by interview in January- February 1999.
Tables were used for presenting the results, "Q2", simple correlation coefficient, step wise analysis, were used as statistical tools for data analysis to test null hypothesis.
The following results were obtained:
1- Values of -Q2" were significant between the degree of performing the processes of communication by extension agents with farmers and the following independent variables:
- Educational level- Specialization- origin (at 0.01).
- Attending training courses in extension (at 0,05).
2- Values of simple correlation coefficient were significant between the degree of performing processes of communication by extension agents, the with farmers and the independent variables: Age- Work period in agricultural - Work period in extension - Number of training courses- Extension agent attitudes towards agricultural extension. (at 0.01 )
- Extension agent attitudes towards extension- Age- number of training courses- Work period in agricultural explained jointly 0.81% from the variance of the dependent variable.
3- Values of "Q2" were significant between the degree of the importance of communication processes of extension agents with farmers and the independent variables:
- Educational level- Specialization- origin (at 0.01)
- Place of living - Attending in training courses in extension (at 0.05)
4- values of simple correlation coefficient were significant between the degree of the importance of communication processes of extension agents with farmers and the independent variables: - Age - Work period in agricultural - Work period in extension - Number of training courses - Extension agent attitudes towards agricultural extension (at 0.01).
- Extension agent attitudes towards extension- age, explained jointly 0.75% from the variance of the dependent variables.
