The perception of rural development organizations' staff for rural development concept

Abstract: This study aims to identify some personal and social characteristics of rural organizations heads, their perception of rural development concept, the relationship between their perception for rural development concept and some independent variables studied, their opinion about the main problems facing rural development and their suggestions to overcome it.
Data were collected from 240 respondents of rural orgastization in
El-Monofia and Bani Swief Governorates using a pre-tested questionnaire. Data were tabulated and analyzed statistically using percentages and chi squire test,
The main results of the study revealed that:
1. Most respondents were middle aged with a higher educational qualifications, married, having low family number of members, having rural origins, resident in the same village they work in, and had a high perception for rural development concept.
2. A significant relationship was detected between the level of respondents' perception for rural development and each of the following independent variables: educational qualifications, exposing a curriculum about development, exposing to training, respondents age, experience level, social affiliation, cultural opening, and membership in social organizations.
3. The main rural developmental problems mentioned by respondents were: non-participation of rurals in planning for rural developmental, low experience and qualifications of the staff, ignore the role of women and rural youth in rural developmental projects, insufficient financing for rural developmental projects, and low awareness about development of rural community members.
4. The main respondents' suggestions to solve rural developmental problems were: the good planning for development must start at the base level, ensuring necessary budget for rural developmental projects, ensure community members participation in planning for development, finger out quick solutions for village problems, train the neccessary cadres for developmental projects, necessity of women and rural youth participation in developmental programs, raise educational level of rurals, put rural developmental projects through mass media, and maintenance rural projects.
