A study of the impact of some variables on effectiveness of utilizing of agricultural extension workers for extension methods in el Menoufia governorate

Abstract: The main objective of this research is to study the impact of some variables on the effectiveness of utilizing of agricultural extension workers for extension methods in El Menofia governorate.
To accomplish the objective four specific objectives were taken into consideration:
l- To study some economic, social and personal variables of the respondents. 2- To determine the effectiveness of respondents using extension methods. 3- To determine the relationship of some independent variables concerned with respondents and their effectiveness of using extension methods. 4- To determine the relative importance of extension methods according to the respondents effectiveness of using such methods. 5- To determine the major problems which face them in using extension methods.
Data were collected from 95 respondents by using a questionnaire through personal interview in El-Menofia Governorate. Percentages, standard deviation, and simple correlation, chi-square test, phi coefficient, coefficient of contingency, gamma test were utilized as statistical methods. The main findings of the study are:
Research results indicated that there is a significant positive correlation between the effectiveness of utilizing extension methods and each of the following variables: age, years of extension work, exposing to trainning, educational certificate, origin, residence, educational specialization and agricultural experience.
The results revealed that effectiveness of utilizing respondent of extension methods in descending order are: farm visit, extension meeting, office calls, demonstration methods and lastly circular letters, telephone calls, extension exhibits.
The major problems facing respondents in their using extension methods are: lack of incentives, and shortage in extension methods and aids and trainning programs. Their suggestions to try solving such problems are: increasing the incentives for respondents, and supporting of extension methods and aids and conducting more trainning programs for respondents.
