A study of farmers participation in extension work in El-Mahmodia district El-Beheira governorate
Abstract: This study aimed to determine available chances, and level of participation of fanners in Extension '\ cork and reasons of nonparticipation.
Data were collected by personal interview using a pre-tested questionnaire from a random sample amounted to 129 Farmers from El-Mahmodia district. Average, standard deviation. 1' lest, I.SI) lest, simple correlation coefficient in addition to f'reclriencies and percentages were used to present and analyze data statistically.
The results revealed that: Available participation chances of 78.3% of (he respondents are low, and levels of participation of 79.1% of the respondents in Extension work are low too Nonparticipation happen because 31.8% of the respondents don't know the Agriculture Extension worker, 23.3% of the respondents find no time to participate, 19.3% of the respondents the size of their fauns is limited and 18.6% of the respondents don't credit the Agricultural Extension worker.
There were significant differences according to 1 test betNveen farmers' leaders opinion and follow cis in their participation in Agricultural Extension work, and between who rent their farms and who practise farm work.
The results showed that ihere were significant differences according to LSD test Agricultural Extension participation between who contact with Agricultural Cooperation Organization more than once a week and others of the less contact.
There were significant positive relationship between Age, and available chances of Participative in Agricultural Extension work as independent variables and participation in Agricultural Extension work as dependent variable. And significant negative relationship between distance from Agriculture Cooperation Organization to farmer's houses and their participation in Agriculture Extension work.
