Knowledge needs of apricot growers in El--Amar village, Qualyoubia governorate

Abstract: The objectives of the study can be formulated as the follow:
1- Identification of the respondents level of knowledge needs related to apricot production.
2- Determination of the relationship between the level of knowledge needs and the following independent variables : age; educational level, farm size , cultivated area with apricot, type of family, number of family members, contribution of sons in the farm work, contact with exchange agent, cosmopoliteness, formal social participation, non formal social participation, and the opinion leadership.
3- Identification of the extension services provided by the Ministry of Agriculture in the field of apricot production.
4- Identification of the sources of information in relation to cultivation and production of apricot.
5- Identification of the problems facing the apricots farmers and their proposals to solve these problems.
The Most important results are as follows:
1-Considerably high proportions of apricot growers had medium and high knowledge needs (82.70%).The study revealed that about (17.30%) had low knowledge needs .
2- No statistically significant relationships were found between knowledge needs and: age, educational level, size of farm and opinion leadership, number of family members, contribution of sons in the farm work, formal social participation.
3- Statistically significant relationships at the level of ( 0.01%) were found between knowledge needs and type of family, contacts with change agents, cosmopoliteness, non formal social participation.
- Statistically significant relationships at the level of (0.05%) were found between knowledge needs and the area planted with apricot.
