Participation of educated rural youth in farm work in Giza governorate

Abstract: The research aimed to identify the following: participation level of educated rural youth in each branch of farm work (plant or animal production) either within or outside the family (by sharing or by wage), the most frequent practices performed by them, aspects of this participation, the relationship between studied independent variables of educated rural youth and their degree of participation in each branch of farm work, the relative participation degree of these independent variables in explaining the occurred variance of youth participation in each branch of farm work, and identifying if these differences in their degree of participation are affected by level of their graduation degree and their specialization. Finally identifying motives and impediments of educated rural youth participation in farm work.
The research sample size was (375) interviewees taken from three villages subordinated to three districts in Giza governorate. Data were collected through a personal interview questionnaire during (March — April) 2004. Data were analyzed by using
frequencies and percentages tabulation, "Pearson" simple correlation coefficient, Chi-square, adjusted Chi-square, stepwise analysis, F-test and L.S.D test.
