Abstract: This study aimed mainly to identify how the rural women treat their crops residuals and household solid wastes in the studied area, through identifying the kinds of these residuals and wastes. In addition to know the extension services of the mentioned residuals they get and environmental use of what they have from these residuals and solid wastes, plus their knowledge level about the different means of having benefit of their residuals and solid wastes. The study aimed also to determine the application degree of the respondents regarding the recommended practices of their crops residuals and household solid wastes and also their exposure level about these residuals sources of information. The study was carried out in four Districts which were selected randomly, presented by one village of each. The study was conducted in the half of may until the end of July 2005 on regular sample amounted to 145 respondents with (3%) from the list of women land holders, the wife's of farmer land holders in the cooperatives, plus the women who deal with these residuals whom were found in land holders houses. Data were collected by using pre-tested questionnaire. Frequencies, percentages, mean, standard deviation, simple correlation coefficient and step wise were used to present and analysis the data. The mean study results were as follows:
-There were many farm and home wastes which rural women handle reached (32) kind : among them (8) farm residuals of field and vegetable crops , and (24) home wastes included wastes found as result of the rural family life use and others of animals residues as a result of animal keeping or using in their food consumption .
- The majority of the respondents had moderate or high knowledge about the dimensions of the environmental aspect, and low level of knowledge about the ways of having the benefit of the residuals. It is found also low level of the education and training services related to the use of crops residuals and non for the household solid wastes and that the relations, the family and T.V. programs have the first priorities as sources of information for the respondents .
-The rural women's application level of the recommended practices related to the crops residuals and solid wastes treatments were low in general, and the application level was going down with the complexity of the practices.
-There was a positive significant relationship between the dependent variable(yl) and eight independent variables and two independent variables only from the household solid wastes, included the degree of the respondent knowledge about the different ways for having the benefit of the residuals and the degree of the respondent knowledge about the environmental dimension of the residual use and between the dependent variable(y2) .
The study included (6) sets of recommendations related to the selected study.
