Educational needs of Egyptian rural women for grain
storage

Abstract: Grain production is considered a very important source for realizing the population needs from carbohydrates and proteins to meet the requirments of life and healthy growth. Then the decrease of grain production represent an important problem which threaten food security of the Egyptians.
Grain storage is an essential processes to increase the amount of grains.
Although grain storage is one of the responsi¬bilities of Egyptian Rural Women, extension programs do not provide them with the recommended practices. On the other hand, there are no available studies had been conducted in this prospect to determine the educational needs of rural women.
So this study is an attempt to determine the educational needs of rural women as the first step in drawing solutions for insufficient grain storage processes.
It is proposed that the results will provide some scientific bases to promote extension programs in practical.
Objectives:
The objectives of this study were stated as follow to:
1. Determine the present situation of grain storage on the level of village.
2. Determine the relationship between: some social
and economic variables and the score of educational
needs for knowledge in storing grains of the rural
women.
3. Determine the relationship between: some social and economic variables and the score of educational needs for practice in storing grains of the rural women.
4. Determine knowledge needs of the rural women for the storing grains.
5. Determine the sources of knowledge of the rural women about the recommendations.
6. Recognize the suggestions of rural women to raise the efficiency of storing grains.
7. Propose an extension program depending upon the results of the study.
