|
|
Abstract: As value orientations of agricultural extension personnel are considered of great importance to their performance, we must insure their congruency with organizational values in order to achieve success and effectiveness. The study aims to determine the reliability, validity and ability to differentiate of the value orientations instrument used by Seevers (2000) in clarifying agricultural extension organizational values in New Mexico, after translating and adapting it to the egyptian culture. 14 experts (professors) were asked to assess the instrument containing 51 value statements for face validity. As 7 statements were dropped,The primary list included 45 value statements represnting three dimentions of agricultural extension core values including: Process value system, Product / Program value system, Personnel value system. The study was conducted in Ismilia Governorate. A sample of 121 persons was randomnly chosen out of 185 agricultural personnel working in the districts of Fayed,Abu Sware,Eltal el Kebir, El kassasin,El Kantara Shark El Kantara Gharb, And Ismailia. The sample size was determined using the formula mentioned by Keijcie & Morgan(1978). For data collection a questionnaire specially designed was used during their meetings. The questionnaire contained personal characteristics, and a value orientations scale The respondents were asked to separately rate the importance of the 45 value statements on a likert scale. Frequencies, Averages, percentages, T-Test, and simple correlation were used in analyzing data and presenting results. Reliability of the instrument was assessed using Cronbach's Alpha Coefficient (0.859),and Spearman Brown Reliability Coefficient (0.86) using the half split test. In addition the instrument showed high validity when assessed through determining face validity ,instrinsic validity, content validity, internal consistency Moreover the instrument showed high ability to differentiate. Depending upon the validity and reliability results, the scale is considered a reliable and valid instrument that can be used to measure the value orientations of agricultural extension personnel
