The Refraining of Rural Youth From Working in Agricultural Sector in Some Villages in Sharma and Assuit Governorates

Abstract: The study aims at identifying the reasons which keeping the rural youth away from working in agricultural sector, the relationship between the rural Youth refraining and some social and economic variables, also their suggestions to encourage them for working in agricultural sector. Data were collected from 195 respondents at two villages in Sharkia and Assuit governorates by, a questionnaire through personal interview. Percentages, means, and Pearson's correlation coefficient were used for data analyzing.
Results showed that refraining of 67% of the total respondents due to the low of returns from Farming, 47% because of the non stability of family income, 57% for not desire to work in agriculture sector, and 29% for income resources variation.
On the other hand the respondents suggestions to encourage rural youth for working in agricultural sector were; to review the law of the relationship between the owner and tenant, subsidizing the agriculture inputs, supporting the agricultural cooperatives, establishing risk fund to compensate farmers against disasters.
