A Descriptive analytical study of domestic violence against rural women at kafr el sheikh governorate

Abstract: This study aimed at identifying the types of domestic violence against Rural women at Kafr EI-Sheikh governorate, and identifying the' most important correlates and determinants of domestic violence types. A questionnaire form was designed for this purpose. Comestic .violence against rural women as a dependent variable was hypothesized to1 be effected by 15 independent variables. A systematic random sample of 200 rural wives was selected from 3 villages at Brullus, Byala, and Sidi Sale m districts.
Frequencies, percentages, F & t test, alpha coefficient, simple correlations, multiple linear regression, stepwise multiple' regression (Forward solution) were used to analyze the date with Spss V(17).
The most Important findings of the study were:
1- Rural women are facing all studied types of domestic violence in varying degrees.
2- Rural woman's husband was the most actor of the majority of domestic violence types against rural women.
3- The majority of Rural women had poitive attitudes toward. female genital mutilation, early marriage, and sexual discrimination.
4- Rural women's. age, village belonging, negative attitudes toward early marriage, positive attitudes toward' sexual discrimination, and the size of household variables were the main determinants of domestic violence against rural . women.
Finally, some recommendations were suggested.
