IMPLEMENTATION OF DRINKING WATER RATIONAL USE PRACTICES AMONG RURAL WOMEN AT KAFR EL-SHEIKH GOVERNORATE

Abstract: This study aimed at identifying the most important practices of the rational use of drinking water among the rural women at Kafr EI-
Sheikh and Motobus districts, and the most important determinants of these practices. A questionnaire form was designed for this purpose.
A systematic random sample of 250 rural women was selected from 2 villages Mehallet alkasab and meniat alomrshed. The study included
14 variable measures the practices of drinking water rational use inside and outside rural houses. Frequencies, percentages, F & t
tests, alpha coefficient, Z & T scores, simple correlation, Spearman's coefficient of rank correlation, stepwise multiple regression (Forward solution) were used to analyze data with SPSS V(15) .
The most important findings of the study were:
1 - The Majority of rural women have high level of knowledge about rational use of drinking water practices, while the level of
implementation was medium.
2 - The more wastage of drinking water were outside rural houses,inside (kitchens), and inside (toilets) respectively.
3 - Rural women's awareness about drinking water rational use
practices, cultural openness, opinion leadership, high levels of living standards, low size of house hold, awareness about the
problem of drinking water shortage in Egypt were the main determinants of drinktng water rational use practices.
Finally, some recommendations were suggested
