Performance of amri and gabr threshers for soybean

Abstract: The main objective of this paper is to evaluate the performance of two locally threshing machines (AMRI & Gabr threshers). An expermintal tests were done at Gemmiza Station, Gharbia Governorate to thresh soybean. Two types of threshers were used in this investigation: (1) Gabr thresher avilable in the market and among the farmers, (2) AMRI devloped thresher in AEnRI (Agricultural Engineering Research Institute) and avilable for the farmers at Gemmiza Station. AMRI thresher was suiatble to thresh rice only and was devloped to be suitable for multi-crop such as rice, wheat, bean, sunflower, etc.. (Khan et. al, 1989). Gabr thresher was suiatble to thresh wheat only and was developed by AEnRI to thresh multi crops such as wheat, rice, sunflower, etc.. (Khan et. al, 1991) In this paper, the performace of AMRI thresher was compared with the Gabr thresher. The expermintal results were obtained as follows : the optimum of threshing capacities were 900.11 and 726.83 kg/h for AMRI and Gabr threshers respectively, cleaning efficiencies were 93.8 and 92.79 % for AMRI and Gabr threshers respectively. Total losses were 1.12 and 2.14 % for AMRI and Gabr threshers respectively. Finally the power consumed of AMRI was measured for threshing soybean.
